Obama on Syria

The main point President Obama presented as he addressed the public Tuesday night was the idea of a peaceful, diplomatic solution to the Syria crisis. If the Assad regime gives up its chemical weapons to the International community, military force would not be necessary. However, Obama did assert that the military is in position if diplomacy fails. He has asked Congress to postpone a vote on force in Syria until the agreement is discussed further.  The effect, according to the CNN/ORC International poll taken after the President’s speech reveals that most people agree with Obama’s decision for Syria at 61% for and 37% against. Although, it is important to take into consideration that apparently more Democrats were polled than Republican or Independent.
